This is the week that Americans celebrate the founding of our country.  We truly are very blessed to have the freedoms and opportunities that most people throughout the world can’t even imagine.  That is definitely something worth celebrating!

            One of the things that stands out to me most when I travel abroad is how fortunate we are in the United States of America.  When traveling to beautiful, exotic locations, some of the living conditions of the people really stand out to me.  Taking a tour around an island or driving along the coast to a luxurious beach resort, you will see people living in dwellings that would best be described as shacks here in America.   At those moments, I can’t help but be thankful for the blessings we have in our country. 

            I have also noticed how appreciative the locals are of the tourism that Americans bring to their country.  Even the least expensive purchase of an item is very meaningful to these people.  On numerous occasions, I have heard locals state how important our American tourism is to their livelihood and ability to support their families.  To be honest, not everything about Americans is great to the locals, but they do appreciate the financial support we bring to them. 

            So, as you are celebrating this July 4^th, be thankful for your blessings and realize how fortunate we are as Americans. When you travel abroad, realize that not only are you experiencing a great vacation, but you are also being a blessing to the people in those countries.  As an American, I am proud of the benefits that our country is able to share with rest of the world.  Take a trip and pass on the blessings.
