Well, we are starting to hear news that they are beginning to open the country. The national plan is a three-phase approach and the travel and entertainment industries will likely open in the third phase. How long that will be is anybody’s guess. Here are my thoughts on the reopening.
I believe it was wise to close things down until we had a better idea of what we were dealing with. The number of projected fatalities FAR exceeded the actual numbers (and that’s an understatement). It will likely be determined that this was an over-reaction. But better safe than sorry. Hopefully we can recover the economy quickly to relieve the collateral damage as much as possible. One death is too many, but death is a part of life. Life is 100% fatal for EVERYONE. The timing of that death is the only unknown, but it is still unavoidable.
I will choose not to live my life around a fear of death. I will take the necessary precautions, such as wearing a face mask, for the safety of myself, my family and others. I will practice sanitary procedures such a frequent washing of hands and being mindful of touching my face after touching objects or people. But, otherwise, I plan to live as close to normal as possible. I’ve already rebooked my Alaska cruise for June of 2021.
I live with hope and assurance because of what my God and Savior, Jesus Christ, did for me. Death is not something I fear because it is only a step into a better eternity where “He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away” (Rev. 21:4). If you know Him, awesome! If not, I invite you to meet the same God and Savior that I serve so you too can live life to the fullest, even in the midst of fear.
