How Can I Help With Your Travel (Part 7)

Continuing with my topic of ways I can help you travel plan; I can give advice on the best time to book your travel. As a general rule, the earlier you book the better the rate you will get.  Some factors that affect rates may be the type of accommodations or rooms you book.  The lowest rate rooms/cabins tend to book earliest.  Which only leaves the higher priced accommodations.  So technically, the price did not increase, the cheaper rooms just booked up.  Thus, one reason to book early for lowest pricing.

Sometimes, for instance cruises, the early rates are listed full price and deals will be announced periodically to attract clients with specific interests such as discount deposits, drink packages, cabin upgrades, free gratuities, children reduced, etc…. Overall, you end up paying the same price, but you can get the specific inclusions you want with your package.  Some cruise lines (i.e. Disney) do increase their rates as time passes for no other reason than to get their ships filled up early. And believe it or not, that strategy works them.  The best rates can actually be found shortly before the travel date.  Hotels, airlines and cruise lines want to fill their empty space, so they advertise great deals.  This is really only helpful to travelers that are capable of leaving on short notice.  Even at this, you only get whatever accommodations are available.  That could result in a great deal on a balcony cabin or you could get stuck with an interior cabin above the dance night club.  You may not be able to get into the resort you want and have to settle for whatever is left.  All this being said, timing is very difficult. That is why it is beneficial to use a travel agent to guide you with making the best decision for you.  And I do all this with NO EXTRA FEES.
