My First Cruise Experience (Part 3)

So, we continue to Day 3 of my first cruise.  The ship ported at Cozumel that morning and we were up early enough to watch the ship pull up to the landing.  Our only paid excursion of the cruise was our mission for that day. Of course, it was the least expensive excursion and it included a day at a local beach resort.  Sounds wonderful!  Except, it was raining.  We discussed whether to go or not and I finally decided that we weren’t going to sit on the boat all day.  So, we went.

We boarded a taxi van at the cruise port and headed on our way.  As we traveled down the road, I noticed we would come upon little tin roof shacks periodically.  After realizing they were people’s houses, it gave me a greater appreciation for our life in the US and how blessed we truly are.  We eventually pulled into the Beach Resort complex where we exited the taxi and walked through the rain to the beach area.

The resort had a nice covered area for eating and sitting. That provided us relief from the rain.  There was not any danger of lightning, so we eventually let the kids go out to the pools.  Does it really matter how you get wet? There were also bounce toys and paddle boats in the ocean area. Even though it rained on and off throughout the day, we did have an enjoyable time on the beach with the crystal-clear water and activities.

We returned to the ship when we were finished at the beach and showered up for our evening activities.  We once again had a wonderful dinner.  I can’t remember which night, but we did expose our kids to lobster for the first time. They were OK with it, but decided they could check it off their bucket list and move onto other dining options. We enjoyed some time on deck watching the sunset and returned to the cabin for a restful night being tired from the day’s activities.  On to Day 4 next week.
