As I stated last week, I will finish my Universal Orlando vacation with our experience at Volcano Bay water park. I first experience was on a day that week took off from Universal to go visit the Holy Land Experience, also in Orlando. We enjoyed the morning and afternoon watching re-enactments, shows and displays from Biblical times. Probably the most humorous moment was when the actor portraying Jesus was rushing across the park with another cast member. A guest tried to talk to him, but the cast member said, “he doesn’t have time right now”. Not a good sign when Jesus doesn’t have time for you.
Anyway, we returned to Universal that evening and decided to go to Volcano Bay. It had been storming but had cleared, so the crowd was actually very low. We ate some good barbeque with our meal plan voucher and checked out the attractions. Stephen wanted to do the Ko’okiri Body Plunge, which is the tallest water slide that starts at the top of the volcano and plunges you straight down at high speed. There was little or no line and very shortly we watched him come Splash through the end of the tube. He got up and said, “That was awesome.” He’s still young and a thrill seeker.
We spent the rest of the evening walking around the park knowing that we would be coming back another day to catch the rest of it. When we came back another day, it was sunny and much more crowded. We used the Tapu Tapu wrist band to get ride the Krakatau Aqua Coaster and some other slides. It was an excellent and unique family ride!
We left about mid-afternoon and spent the evening at the other parks. It truly was the most elaborate water park I have ever experienced. When you go, you have to think differently than a typical water park. It’s not about hopping around the park from line to line riding attractions. You get into a virtual line with your Tapu Tapu, then find a relaxing attraction like the wave pool or the winding river, then go to the ride when it is your turn. Then repeat for your next attraction. It really makes the day more relaxing. I definitely advise getting the 3 Park ticket to make this part of your trip.
