I’m going to wrap up our experiences in Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure today and finish my Universal vacation next week talking about Volcano Bay water park. As I’ve stated, I was very impressed with the Wizarding World of Harry Potter and would highly recommend Universal Orlando for that alone. But the rest of the park had some other great attractions.
Islands of Adventure had many of the rides that most interested me. Jurassic Park River Adventure and Skull Island: Reign of Kong were definitely on my radar and lived up to my expectations. I was blown away by the exterior of the Kong ride and the forced perspective that was used on the mountains above the attraction. It took me a couple minutes looking at the scene to realize the mountain mural was not as far away as I thought it was. It was the best use of forced perspective I have ever seen. One attraction that came highly recommended was Poseidon’s Fury, so I wanted to make sure we did it. It truly was unlike any attraction I have ever seen. It is a walk-through attraction filled with surprises as you are escorted by a humorous guide helping you escape.
The kids liked the Hulk and Rip-Ride Rocket roller coasters. I was careful in my ride selection after my Harry Potter Forbidden Journey experience. The Spiderman and Transformer rides were fairly intense, but I managed to survive them. The kids (not Kathy) also wanted to do Dudley Do-Right’s Ripsaw Falls water ride. I was game knowing we would get wet. But I was wrong. We did not get wet. We got entirely soaked to the bone even while wearing a poncho. But it was fun. So, that is a great segue into talking about Universal’s water park Volcano Bay next week.
