Let me begin by saying my family loves everything Disney.  When I started my travel business, I wanted (in part) to specialize in the Florida theme parks, so I knew I needed to experience them to be able to provide travel tips for my clients.  So, when I wanted to take my family to Universal Studios, the idea was met with skepticism.  They knew it could never measure up to Disney.

I started by getting my Universal Specialist Certification, so I knew how to best plan our trip.  It had been 20+ years since I had been to Universal, but I remember I was very impressed when I was there.  I told my family that Universal has attractions for more mature audiences and they have been pushing Disney to up their game.  It was difficult for me to compare Universal to Disney, but I was confident they would enjoy it.  They reluctantly agreed to go to “make Dad happy.”  

In the upcoming weeks, I will share some of our experiences at Universal Orlando.  Overall, my family was very impressed with Universal and appreciated how they have pushed the envelope in ride development and totally immersive experiences.  It truly has developed into a multi-park experience that is rivaling Disney in vacation experience. They have recently announced plans for another separate theme park that will add even more to their guest’s experience.  Consider taking a look at a Universal vacation for your family in the future.
