For as long as I can remember, Walt Disney World has been my favorite vacation destination. My first visit as a child was with my parents and brother the year the Magic Kingdom opened. That was followed by a few more trips with my parents then, my next visits were as a director with my school band programs to perform at “The World”. Once I married Kathy, in order to be a good parent, I had to take my own children. Now, I’m also traveling as a school trip escort to the “Happiest Place on Earth.” Through the years, I’ve been to Disney almost 20 times with more visits to come.
Through my varied ways of visiting Disney World, I have gained a great deal of perspective on what people like and what they don’t like. As a child, I learned to love the rides and attractions. As a teacher, I learned that kids need to cooperate and take turns choosing attractions or end up doing nothing. As a parent, I learned to be patient and not worry about unexpected “surprises” and child melt downs (long lines are not fun for little kids). As someone who loves great food, I’ve come to appreciate the outstanding dining options Disney has to offer. There is too much enjoyment to be had at Disney to let little inconveniences spoil your time together.
What advice can I give as a travel agent? You have to experience a Disney vacation at least once. Probably more. There truly is no place like it on earth. There is something for every age group and stage of life. It’s as magic for the parent, grandparent, honeymoon & anniversary couple, extended families, friends and food aficionados as it is for the small, starry eyed child.
I will be doing a series of Weekly Travel News dealing with the topic of Walt Disney World and other vacation opportunities. Check your emails weekly to get all the tips and advice I have to offer.
